Body composition and metabolic health

Strength training at NET is one of the most efficient ways to get fit. Our workouts can help you build lean muscle and reduce body fat—and, in turn, increase your metabolism. With just two workouts a week, you may see results in the mirror that you haven’t been able to achieve with other forms of exercise.

The outward changes that will happen to your body are only one part of the picture. In fact, our workouts don’t just grow your muscles and reduce fat. They activate a series of processes within the body that influence key hormones, neurotransmitters, and other chemicals, ultimately promoting long-term health across a variety of bodily systems.

For example, strength training has been shown to improve cholesterol and blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. By making the body more sensitive to insulin, high-intensity training can help prevent type II diabetes—or, for people who already have it, help reduce or eliminate the medication they require.

Strength training makes our bodies younger on a cellular level, which is perhaps why it’s associated with a lower risk of death from cancer, and may be a key to longevity.

Strength for life

Shoulder press

Shoulder press

Around our early 30s, we start losing about half a pound of lean muscle and gaining a pound of fat per year—and this only accelerates with age. Not only does this affect our appearance, but it often leads to lower energy levels, aches and pains, and a variety of health issues. On top of that, bone mineral density declines consistently with age, putting us at risk of osteoporosis and injuries from falls.

Strength training can slow down or reverse these processes by building strong, lean muscle—and, in turn, stronger bones. With more strength and energy, you can regain a sense of youth, empowerment, and confidence. You won’t feel as old as your actual age.

Aches and pains

Joint pain can often be traced back to the muscles surrounding the joint. If they are weak or imbalanced, they can pull the joint out of alignment and cause pain—in areas like the shoulder, lower back, hip, or knee.

Unfortunately, many of the muscles that cause joint pain are hard to strengthen; our brains have simply forgotten how to engage them. But our medical-grade equipment at NET is designed to isolate those weakened muscles. By building strength over time, you can reduce pain—and that is exactly what many NET clients experience.

On top of that, the risk of injuring your joints at NET is very low. While explosive jumping or fast weight-lifting puts extreme force on the joints, our slow, controlled method of movement is optimal for long-term joint health into your 80s, 90s, and beyond.

Lower back pain

MedX Lumbar Extension (LE)

MedX Lumbar Extension (LE)

Lower back pain can be debilitating. Our FDA-certified, medical lumbar extension (LE) machine, backed by over $40 million in R&D, is arguably the best lower back pain solution in the world. It works by targeting weak muscles deep in your lower back that are likely contributing to your pain. As many scientific studies suggest, it can help 80% of people with chronic back pain to improve function in the lower back, alleviate or get rid of pain, and increase bone mineral density in the vertebrae.

Even a single session can help ease pain and tension by lubricating your joints and bringing blood flow to your lower back. Over time, you can achieve a more supple, stronger, and pain-free lower back. Numerous research studies on MedX’s spinal technology suggest that about 80% of people with ALL symptoms of lower back pain will achieve good to excellent results after several sessions.

The science: How the MedX Lumbar Extension machine works

The MedX medical spinal computerized assessment and strengthening machine is a proven system that works on localizing the deep erector muscles of the lumbar spine, the multifidus. Multifidii function together with abdominal and pelvic floor muscles to stabilize the low back and pelvis during functional activities.

When you have chronic low back pain, your back muscles are typically in spasm, preventing your back from moving smoothly. In chronic spinal conditions, the multifidii may become inhibited and prevent full recovery from a back problem.

But strengthening these muscles is incredibly difficult with typical machines or equipment. Unless larger muscles (like the gluteus and hamstrings) are prevented from helping your back move, it is virtually impossible to directly target the weakened multifidii. The pelvic restraint system on the MedX LE, which locks your legs and pelvis in place, allows your deep back extensor muscles to do all the work. This is the key to successfully strengthening these important muscles and addressing the most common root cause of lower back pain.

When you use the MedX LE machine, you are forced to move your lower back. Just like you might mobilize a hurt elbow or knee to work out the pain, this movement can actually feel good and help increase your range of motion. Further, this movement stimulates the pumping of fluids into your spinal discs and helps lubricate your joints. The combination of all these factors can help injured spinal tissue heal naturally and give you relief from back pain.

Within months, it was evident that MedX was effective. Anywhere that a MedX lumbar extensor machine was up and running, spine surgeons complained bitterly that their surgery volume was declining.

Neck pain and poor posture

Four-way neck exercise

Especially for people who work long hours on computers, neck pain can be a major issue. Again, this often comes down to weak or tight muscles.

NET’s medical-grade neck machine will strengthen the muscles in the front, back, and sides of the neck. Not only does this help with neck tension, but it can also improve posture and reduce snoring.

Over the years, I’ve spent thousands on various chiropractors and physiotherapists, yet I continued to suffer from neck tension. After several months of working and actively developing my back muscles at NET, [my neck is] free to relax and move more freely, and my posture improved.

Pelvic floor strength

PelvicTrainer

PelvicTrainer

At the bottom of the spine are the pelvic floor muscles, which are important for both men and women. But for most people, these muscles become weak over time and we find them very difficult to properly engage and relax.

For women, weakness in the pelvic floor can lead to issues with the bladder, postnatal recovery, and uterine prolapse. For men, it can weaken the prostate gland and contribute to weak flow of urine, trouble achieving full erection, inability to control ejaculation, and less intense orgasm.

NET’s Pelvictrainer machine will (in a non-intrusive way) help you strengthen and improve the sensitivity of the pelvic floor muscles and not only address these health issues, but enhance sexual performance and satisfaction.

All in all, NET machines help you specifically target all four areas of the spine—from the pelvic floor to the lower back and the mid-back to the neck—allowing for better mobility, fluid and energy flow, and strength along its entire length.

The benefits of NET workouts for your health and pain reduction are significant. But these aren’t the only reasons why people choose to come to NET.

In a quiet, private setting, our slow and controlled workouts provide an opportunity for you to leave the stresses of the world behind. For 30 short minutes, you are focused intensely on the sensations in your body—almost like a meditation. Many people end their sessions feeling more present and peaceful. Over time, as your health and strength start to improve, this feeling may seep over into your everyday life in the form of more self-confidence, energy, and well-being.
